Paulo Cortez (Habilitation, PhD) is Associate Professor (with tenure) at the Department of Information Systems, University of Minho. He is also assistant director of the ALGORITMI R&D centre and former coordinator of its Information Systems and Technologies (IST) research group (2013-2018), with interests in the fields of: Business Intelligence: Data Mining, Decision Support Systems and Forecasting; and Artificial Intelligence (AI): Neural Networks; Evolutionary Algorithms and AI Applications. He is co-author of more than 159 indexed (e.g. ISI, Scopus) publications in international peer reviewed journals (e.g., Information Processing Management, Decision Support Systems, Neurocomputing, Information Sciences) and conferences (e.g. IEEE IJCNN, IEEE CIDM, ACM GECCO). He has more than 6900 Google Scholar citations (h-index of 37) and 2700 Scopus citations (h-index of 26). He is currently Associate Editor of the journals Decision Support Systems and Expert Systems, and was formerly Associate Editor of Neural Processing Letters. From 2012 to 2015, he was Vice-president of the Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence (www.appia.pt). He was also evaluator of 44 R&D project proposals and reports from the Scientific National entities of Cyprus, France, Israel, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Kazakhstan: 2013-2017. He has been a regular reviewer of ISI JCR journals such as: IEEE Trans. Neural Networks and Learning Systems, Information Sciences, Decision Support Systems, Data & Knowledge Engineering, Machine Learning, Applied Soft Computing, Neurocomputing, and Knowledge and Information Systems.
